Waiting

watch

I am really terrible at waiting. I want to know as much information as I can as soon as I can. I blame the internet. I came across a journal today that I have kept over the past two years with quotes from books. These include Screw tape Letters, The Irresistible Revolution and Million Miles in a Thousand Years. In a book called Dangerous Wonder by Michael Yaconelli, he talks about play and Jesus and fear and other things. He says:

When you are waiting you are not doing nothing. You’re doing something. You’re allowing your soul to grow up. If you can’t be still and wait, you can’t become what God created you to be.

So often Information is glorified. We seek knowledge instead of the Giver of Wisdom. So often I think I can research my way into my future instead of allowing it to unfold. Today I did that. And I can hear God’s voice saying wait. relax. It is okay to not know everything. So here’s to waiting. and relaxing. and trusting.
